Are You Wondering Why You Should Move On To Another Series? You Are Not Alone
I love this heartfelt, up front bloggers style as she questions her motives for learning 4th series. Reblog Post by Joy Marzec. Check out her blog here
I’m sure you saw the words scroll across your newsfeed…”Kino finished 4th series.” How could you miss it? Scrolling through my partner’s feed it was all I could see. The likes stacked on. Ah. 4th Series. To complete 4th series is like you’ve officially been inaugurated into the Ashtanga Yoga Hall of Fame. She’s been practicing for what 15 years? She’s not yet 40. Whether you like her or think she’s annoying you had to throw down a big congrats in your head cause that 4th is a serious gauntlet where your head can get chopped off.
The 4th series of Ashtanga Yoga is the end of a very gross aspect to Ashtanga Yoga. It is essentially the end of learning a new series. It took 11 years for my teacher to say to me, “Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana.” which is the last posture of the Third series. My journey of learning Third Series was epic and not that interesting…primarily I didn’t have self confidence. I didn’t believe I could learn 3rd.
Completing the Third Series showed me I had the strength to be a filmmaker. HUGE.
Last November I was given the first three postures of Fourth Series and the Great Wall has risen inside of me again just like it did in 3rd.
